Process for Variances and Permit

Zoning Review

-Prepare drawings for a Zoning Review;

-Apply for a zoning review report from planning;

-Obtain zoning review, either gets you a zoning certificate if ok skip step 2 or shows list of items that do not comply to zoning , these become the list of requested variances.

Committee of Adjustment

-Apply to Committee of Adjustment

-Obtain hearing date

-Post notice of public hearing

-Neighbors provided notice and copies of drawings, allowed to attend hearing

-Planning may provide comments or a planning report to the committee (planner may recommend approval or refusal)

-obtain letters of support from neighbours.

-Attend committee hearing.

Permit

-Finish drawings for permit.

-Obtain structural comments and seal

-Apply for building permit.
